THE very best in British theatre is to be streamed live to Christchurch. The Regent Centre is to screen a series of live performances from London’s prestigious National Theatre (NT) beginning this month.
The screenings will be part of the NT Live project, which will see theatres and cinemas across the world broadcasting NT productions in real time.
The season starts on Thursday, January 17, with Oscar-nominee and Tony Award-winner John Lithgow, pictured.
The star of Third Rock from the Sun, Shrek and Dexter will play amiable magistrate Posket, who marries Agatha, played by Olivier Award winner Nancy Carroll.
In a similar vein to the National Theatre’s smash hit comedies, She Stoops To Conquer, London Assurance and One Man, Two Guvnors, The Magistrate is sure to have audiences around the world doubled up with laughter.
