Have you ever been to the Goat and Tricycle? .

If not - you should. Multi-award winning pub close to Bournemouth Town Centre. It's tucked away in a side road up Poole Hill. It is a tied brewery, which normally means that they would only sell beer from their brewery. However this is not the case with the Goat and Tricycle.

Among their good range of Wadworth beers they have a good and ever changing range of guest beers.

Always worth popping in and sampling their range. Even more so since they introduced a good way of sampling their range. They do three third of a pints for the price of one pint.

Rather like Weatherspoons did in their previous beer festivals, but this seems to be a year round deal. Only condition is that one of the beers is a Wadworth beer.

Not a bad thing as Wadworth have a good range of year round beer plus good seasonal beers. So, I thought I’d speak about the range of Wadworth beers available.

They currently have five beers available all year round. Brewed in Devizes and they are one of few breweries that still sell beers locally in oak barrels.

They even still employ a cooper and have a team of shire horses to delivery beer around the Devizes Town Centre pubs. A lovely sight if you are in the area. Unless you are driving through the town. It does create a bit of traffic problems apparently.

Their all year round Real Ale’s are:

• 6X (4.3% ABV) – Copper-coloured malt and fruity beer with some bitterness and a slight malty finnish

• Henry’s Original IPA (3.6% ABV) – Named after Henry Wadworth, the breweries founder in 1885. Light copper coloured beer with slight hoppiness.

• Horizon (4% ABV)- Pale Gold Beer with a crisp finish

•Bishops Tipple (5% ABV) – Wadworth strongest beer. Another gold coloured beer with a well-balanced hop bitterness.

• Strong in the Arm. (4% ABV) – Another golden beer with a hint of malt.

So go on give the a try and let us know which you think is the best?

One final note – whilst researching this article I noticed that another Wadworth pub, the Red Shoot at Linwood has a beer festival on Friday 8th to 10th October. They promise over 30 Real Ales plus 5 traditional ciders.
