SITTING in the comfort of your own home, tucking into a Friday night takeaway is the perfect tonic for the end of a busy week.

Having plucked a takeaway menu from the junk drawer we decided to treat ourselves to a Chinese.

Southbourne is home to a plethora of eateries and the Golden Oryza is one local business serving oriental cuisine six days a week.

Free home delivery is offered on orders over £10, so with that we chose an assortment of dishes to arrive at our door.

We started with mixed hors d’oeuvres for two people, which included sesame prawn toast, spare ribs, satay chicken on skewers, seaweed and kimchi and vegetarian spring rolls.

This box of goodies was filling in itself – it was cooked well, not caked in grease. The only negative being the spare ribs, which were a too dry and the meat was a little sparse.

For the main we devoured deep fried shredded beef in chilli sauce (delicious!), chicken in yellow bean sauce and cashew nuts, accompanied with classic egg fried rice. All were well cooked, fresh and delivered hot.

Other specialties include Singapore rice noodles, fried Ho Fun noodles with beef, Foo Yung, curries, soup, an appetising meat and seafood selection, vegetarian dishes, plus a selection of set menus if you just can’t decide.

This is a traditional Chinese takeaway whose staff appear well trained, with a swift service.
