Ruth Jones has admitted that not much happens in her sitcom Stella – but says viewers love it because of the likeable characters.
The Gavin And Stacey co-creator and star is heading into her fourth series of Welsh Valleys-set Stella, which again she both writes and stars in.
Ruth conceded that not much happened in terms of action or dramatic events on the show, but she has stuck to the winning formula of her previous hit sitcom of creating characters that viewers care about.
She said: “The show is character rather than plot-driven. I remember someone saying to me, the great thing about Stella is that nothing happens, and it’s wonderful.”
The actress continued of her characters: “People make friends with them and feel they can relate to them, because they’re so down-to-earth.”
Ruth also added that she wouldn’t rule out teaming up with Gavin And Stacey co-creator James Corden again, if the time was right.
She said: “We would [write together again] if we had the time. Definitely.”
:: Stella returns to Sky1 on Friday, February 6.
