QUITE a few people think they can impersonate the King of Pop - Michael Jackson. Amir Sharma threw his black hat into the ring at Lighthouse, Poole, on Saturday night.
And pretty impressive he was too. He had a similar look, a similar voice and some of the trademark moves, including the famous moonwalk.
There were plenty of high-pitched yelps and quick-fire costume changes to create the right atmosphere.
Ably supported by two dancers, two backing singers and an excellent three-piece band Amir rolled out the hits in a high-energy two-hour performance. Showstoppers – Billie Jean, Thriller and The Way You Make Me Feel – were particularly well received.
And Amir’s vocals excelled on The Earth Song.
The enthusiastic audience of all ages lapped it up. They were clapping, singing along, and dancing in the aisles. As one young girl said: “I don’t want to leave. I want to see it again.” ’Nuff said.
