Ever since Domingo, Carreras and Pavarotti first enchanted audiences with the power of trained operatic lungs, the world has discovered a taste for quality voices dedicated to a mix of classical arias and the kind of enduring vocal favourites that my grandmother always classed as ‘good music’.

Add a splash of personal charm, stir in a goodly dollop of humour, top with a layer of amiable audience interaction and you have the recipe for a very pleasant evening. With its intimate atmosphere, the Tivoli is a good setting for the talents of the threesome that comprise Tenors Un Limited.

Their rendition of opera classics such as Figaro and Nessun Dorma was interwoven with timeless favourites such as Volare, Unchained Melody and Summertime from Porgy and Bess.

And was the significance of a Valentine’s Day performance overlooked? Not a bit of it. The lads circulated among the audience, wowing the ladies with youth, masculine charm and the thrill of being sung to ‘up close and personal’.

Scott, Paul and Jem, the tenor trio, have an impressive performance pedigree, having performed alongside many of the great names in modern music-making, including Sting, Hayley Westenra, Daniel and Natasha Bedingfield, and Beyoncé. Their career together began a decade ago, and looks set to last as long again.
