A contrast of the old and the new shared stage space at Mr Kyps on Friday night with new boys New York Alcoholic Anxiety Attack providing support for the old hands New Model Army.

For a currently unsigned band, NYAAA kicked off the night in impressive style with a selection of tracks that travelled through a rock, grunge and psychedelic wave.

With just a touch of The Doors about them the three guys did themselves proud as the warm up act by doing something not just refreshingly different but doing it with style.

NYAAA had all the hallmarks of a long established rock band and are ones to watch in the future, having no doubt acquired some new fans from the evening.

The night continued with New Model Army taking position on the stage and launching straight into their set, the fans making their presence known by singing every line and punching the air in a way that only a true rock fan can.

With the development of a mosh pit during their second track the night rocked on and didn't disappoint anyone in the packed venue. The Bradford rockers held the fans in the palms of their hands throughout and brought a fiery attitude to each song.

Having been grounded in the rock world for the past 30 years the stage is most certainly their second home and would definitely deserve a place in a rock hall of fame
