THIS relatively young company has established quite a reputation, and this triple bill showed the Poole audience exactly why.

The first act was the somewhat dour Brouillards with Debussy’s piano preludes, in which we were treated to some extremely strong performances, and some truly laugh-out-loud moments, particularly The Gate of Wine, Cake Walk and Heather, in which Mathias Dingman’s more traditional solo was simply beautiful, contrasting wonderfully with the hilarious walk-off at the end.

The second piece was the absolutely fantastic The Dance House by David Bintley, to the music of Shostakovich.

I’d heard good reviews of this interpretation, and they were by no means inaccurate. The high- energy performance was a delight, its frenetic crescendo, as the dancers dance themselves to death, displaying exciting, breathtaking choreography that just works so well.

In the final piece, we found ourselves on Broadway, where high humour, extraordinarily high kicks, a great set and some marvellous over-acting, complete with a bonus dollop of tap dancing, ensured a deserved rousing ovation from an extremely satisfied audience.

A memorable evening of high-class dance, displayed in a rich variety of its most exciting forms.
