SKA fans are in for a skanking treat as heavyweight American ska-rockers Reel Big Fish play Mr Kyps in Poole on Thursday night.

Arguably one of the biggest ska punk bands around, this is a major coup for the music venue who have already sold-out. Reel Big Fish are best known for the 1997 hit Sell Out.

The band gained mainstream recognition in the mid-to-late 1990s, during the third wave of ska with the release of the gold certified album Turn The Radio Off.

Soon after, the band lost mainstream recognition but gained an underground following. The band was no longer signed to a major record label in 2006 and is currently independent.

After many line-up changes throughout the years, front man Aaron Barrett remains the only founding member in the band.

The band is brash, ballsy and will get the feet a-movin of those lucky enough to have bagged tickets.

Aaron Barrett’s bunch of real-life OC (Orange County) punks bring their high-energy California party tunes to Poole in a tour to follow up the release of their seventh studio album, Candy Coated Fury.

“This album is a lot like our first two albums. It’s got a lot of the same intensity, frantic energy in the music, and the same sarcastic sense of humor. I think these are the fastest songs we’ve done since those albums,” says founding vocalist, guitarist, and principal songwriter Aaron Barrett.

“We’re finally just doing what Reel Big Fish does best, and that’s what we did on those first two albums.”

Expect a riotous cocktail of noise...
