OPERA superstar Russell Watson is to headline a special charity concert at Beaulieu this summer in aid of the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign.

That Glorious Noise will be hosted by actor, writer and former Dr Who Colin Baker, with musical accompaniment from The Sound Power Orchestra with further special guests to be announced.

After recovering from the brain tumour that took him away from music, Russell Watson has been passed fully fit to perform again and as part of his comeback tour has agreed to perform at the special picnic-style concert, to be held in the parkland of the Beaulieu attraction on July 31. He’ll be joined on stage by Camilla Kerslake.

“It’s an absolute delight just to be back on the stage, so the fact that I’m singing at this wonderful venue and that I’m doing it for the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign makes it even more special,” says Russell.” I hope that music lovers from all across the area will come and enjoy a glorious summer’s evening of musical entertainment.”

Emma Jones-Parry, head of events at the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign said: “We’re thrilled that Russell has agreed to star in That Glorious Noise and know his fans will be excited to see him back performing popular classical pieces at this great venue. I’m sure the event will be a real success and raise vital funds to help the 70,000 babies, children and adults with muscle disease in the UK.”
