ONE of the frontmen of the legendary Dr Hook played what is now becoming an annual date at the Tivoli on Sunday.

He kicked off the two hour set with a song from his new album entitled Call Me. Dennis then went straight into two Dr Hook songs that sometimes get overlooked because they weren't hits – Judy and Cooky & Lila.

It’s amazing to believe he turned 60 this year, as he told us during his banter with the crowd, as his enthusiasium and energy is boundless.

Dennis always pays tribute to the songwritings skills of Shel Silverstein who wrote a lot of the Dr Hook hits and he treated us to a few of Shel’s compositions including Can’t Touch the Sun, the hugely amusing Penicillin Penny and A Couple More Years.

But it is not all about the old days. Dennis’ shows now feature a lot of his new material which includes Daddy's Feet and a song about his son, Shine Son.

And for the encore he showed Marianne Faithfull how The Ballard Of Lucy Jordan should be sung and finished the set with Different Faces.
