LEGENDARY glam rock sleaze fiends and proto-punk rockers, the New York Dolls have added a Southampton date to their UK tour.
The band, fronted by David Johansen and Sylvain Sylvain, the last two surviving members, will play the impossibly intimate Talking Heads venue on December 6 in support of their Todd Rundgren-produced new album, Cause I Sez So.
The band, once briefly managed by Malcolm McLaren pre-Sex Pistols and whose UK fan club was run by the young Stephen Patrick Morrissey, enjoy a reputation far greater than their commercial success.
Among their legion of past players, founder members guitarist Johnny Thunders, drummer Jerry Nolan and bassist Arthur Kane, have all passed on – Kane just a few months after their sensational 2004 reunion orchestrated by Morrissey.
But whatever the line-up, the Talking Heads show will be a rare chance to see living legends up close and very personal.
