WHEATLEY Captain George Norman RM (Retired) On 2nd February 2019, aged 90 years. Much loved Husband of Pippa and Father of Peter and Patricia, Brother of Ann and Daphne. Born 3rd September 1928 in Totnes, Devon and lived for the last forty years in Verwood. Royal Marines career spanning twenty three years, including being awarded the King's Badge and officer postings including Christmas Island and HMS Fearless. Ocean racer and yachting consultant who sailed the Atlantic ten times and did more than two hundred English Channel crossings. Radio amateur (G4HNJ) and model engineer with Bournemouth & District Society of Model Engineers. Funeral Service to be held at Poole Crematorium on Wednesday, 27th February at 1.30 pm. Family flowers only please but donations, if desired, for the Royal Marines Charity.
