IN the same week we read that local MPs are opposing the building of the Navitus Bay wind farm, we read of plans for exploratory drilling for oil on the Dorset coast. Will the MPs be objecting to this? Sadly I doubt it. Unfortunately they are too short-sighted to realise that we cannot continue our profligate use of fossil fuels without dire consequences.

Climate change is real and is happening now and will affect us all. I know you’ve heard it all before and it’s not good news so it’s much easier to believe the sceptics.

I would urge everyone to look at their lifestyle and ask themselves “Does it meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs?"

Locally there’s one easy thing we can all do – support the wind farms and object to the oil drilling.

It won’t solve the problem but it will make a difference.
