I WAS interested to read the letter in the Daily Echo from Chris Lucas, with whose views I thoroughly agree (‘Town destroyed by bad planning’, Have Your Say, February 3).

There was, however, a ray of hope in the article stating that finally common sense may have prevailed as the council is considering reinstating the bus station in Exeter Road.

The accumulation of buses in Gervis Place is completely ridiculous and I am amazed that a pedestrian has not already been killed there.

I recently overheard a visitor remark that she had never seen such chaos of public transport in a town centre anywhere in the world.

Let’s hope that one day we will also be fortunate enough to have a town centre ice rink and swimming pool reinstated so locals and visitors alike can enjoy some conveniently placed wet weather activities.
