SINCE the very first performance at the Poole Lighthouse with Julian Bream so many years ago, I cannot think of many performances that I would rate in the truly ‘fabulous show category’ through those past decades.
However that was certainly where I would place the ‘That’ll Be The Day’ for the performance on Saturday evening at the Lighthouse.
A three-hour fast-moving spectacular with talented musicians and singers brought three decades of songs back life to a packed concert hall with lots of fun and humour thrown in.
I would wish to thank the Lighthouse chief executive Elspeth McBain and her team for not only bringing this show to Poole, but for the diversity of the new programme of events at the Lighthouse.
We have for far too long been in the shadow of the Bournemouth Pavilion and with the Concert Hall we offer a far superior venue for shows such as this, so I hope that when this show returns to Poole again next year, residents will consider coming to the Lighthouse.
