LIKE most readers of the Echo I was saddened to read the story of young mother Michelle Amey and her endeavours for her two children to attend the same school.
For many years as a Bournemouth and Dorset County Councillor I was involved in school appeal panels which covered the whole of the Dorset education area.
We too were subject to the ‘Class Size 30’ legislation but an appeal panel, with independent members could, if it felt necessary, override the 30 limit and such a decision could not be reversed by the education authority.
I am wondering as to whether Michelle has been advised to seek her desired decision via an education appeals panel – this may be her answer.
