IF ONLY the Imax Building had a more attractive rear end, perhaps a good deal of the public dislike of it might be allayed.

From the Bath Hill approach, it’s the windowless, warehouse-like monolithic blankness which I find unappealing. It’s like Bournemouth’s own piece of the Berlin Wall.

Rather than tinkering with the building by reducing it, why not grasp the nettle now and reduce its sheer, overpowering mass by two storeys – provided the rather attractive (in my opinion) wavy roofline were retained and the rear elevation made less aesthetically distasteful.
