I REFER to what can only be described as a minor controversy regarding MP Annette Brooke’s expenses.

I can only assume that it is a statistical blip due to the short time scale and set up costs of preparing everything for the next parliamentary five years.

As most householders know, bills seem to all come at once, April especially.

Therefore, due to the small period of time, April would appear abnormally high and a lot of these fixed costs would never be repeated over the next year. I could only assume some of the other MPs mentioned had not been hit by a flurry of bills (yet).

I have been acquainted or known of her for many years, since I joined a political party (SDP).

Annette Brooke loves her area and its people, and being totally unselfish has devoted much time and effort to its well being and served a very sound apprenticeship on Poole council before becoming an MP. By her enthusiasm, approachability and not forgetting her famous smile, she has become a social treasure and fast becoming a national one, liked and loved by all who meet her.

If one were stuck for words to describe local MP and local councillor and service and duty in the true sense, one would only have to use the words “Annette and Michael Brooke” for an understanding.
