Marlborough Road from Clarendon Road to Hallmark Hotel, curved part of Portarlington, from Hallmark Hotel to Clarendon Road.

Did you know that parking along these roads is to be restricted to two hours?

I am a resident of Marlborough Road and I disagree strongly with this proposal. I feel that it is a much appreciated and needed amenity by people who work in Bournemouth, many of whom may earn small salaries and who would find it hard to pay parking fees all day, five days a week.

Many people leave their cars here whilst they go shopping – what use is two hours? It takes 20 minutes to walk into Bournemouth centre and 20 minutes back – leaving one hour 20 minutes to shop, which as any women will tell you is useless.

It appears that two residents in Clarendon Road have started this action – Graham Beaumont and Ian Kendal and I wonder why.

It appears that these two men have done a straw poll of residents in Clarendon Road but as far as I am aware not in this part of Marlborough Road or Portarlington, therefore I strongly recommend that the council should restrict this two-hour parking restriction to Clarendon until residents of Marlborough and Clarendon have been consulted.

I am running a petition and would ask all car parkers and residents to sign or write into the council before another of our valuable freedoms is take away from us.

All objections were due to be received by the council yesterday.
