I was interested to read the letter from Matthew Bell regarding Criminal Records Bureau checks (Have Your Say, June 28).
My daughter has recently contacted four local schools to apply for supply work.
Each school has asked for a CRB check and my daughter has had to complete the same form four times. Twice she has had to pay the £36 herself and twice the schools have paid.
I ask the same question as Mr Bell – why can’t the checks be transferable?
There is a possibility that the same member of staff will be vetting all four forms from my daughter – a waste of their time and both the public’s and my daughter’s money. I also understand that having the clearance back in four weeks is somewhat optimistic.
