Louise Kenchington comments on the cost of parking in Bournemouth town centre (Have Your Say, June 24).
The lady tells the council to “get sensible with the charging”.
May I point out that for just £1 shoppers can park for two hours in either the Winter Gardens or Richmond Gardens multi-storey car parks, and it would be difficult to match this in any of our competitor towns.
The proactive measures taken by the council over the past 12 months to promote our parking offer has actually produced a reduction in other car parks run by national operators.
I appreciate that at out of town retail parks offer free parking, but how much is a litre of petrol this week?
Cllr BOB CHAPMAN, central ward, Town Hall, Bournemouth
