So yet another cannabis farm has been found (Daily Echo, May 31).
However I cannot sympathise with the shock that landlords express on these matters.
What happened to periodic inspections by the landlords or their agents?
Growing cannabis is pretty obvious if an inspection is carried out – ducting, rewires, smell etc Remember this is not just someone growing some weed for their personal use but organised gangs involving people trafficking and big sums of money.
Hopefully our new government might wish to investigate this problem of cannabis farms to get some cohesive action – look at the number of raids in Bournemouth alone in the past three years.
peter hyde, Chatsworth Road, Bournemouth * This is not the first time this has happened locally and there are probably numerous similar incidents over the country.
To prevent this happening the landlord should insist that the agent enters the property and does a check every month or two to record the general condition, and note what maintenance may be needed shortly so that it can be planned.
This is efficient management which I insisted upon when letting a house for my mother some years ago.
It would prevent the unlawful growth of Cannabis and ensure that the landlord did not have to bear the cost of repairs after repossession. Ron Bryant, Address supplied
