Reading the letter from John Langford (Have your say, October 26) I cannot understand his logic in denigrating the provision of cycle lanes along the Sandbanks peninsular.
He obviously does not walk along the footpath otherwise he would realise what a hazardous experience it can be.
The increasing number of cyclists who assume they have the right to use the footpath as a cycleway means elderly pedestrians like me have to be constantly alert to their presence.
To be overtaken at speed from behind is quite frightening and to be confronted by a lycra-clad helmeted and goggled figure approaching at 20mph is not funny. These characters never even slow down and quite clearly intend you to get out of their way!
The car parking spaces that the council has lost were seldom occupied, even during peak periods.
