I was glad to see the article on dear Bob Wheatley who passed away very recently and very suddenly (Daily Echo, October 23).
Bob was a very hard working member of the Royal British Legion and I know he will be sorely missed, especially at this time with Remembrance Day fast approaching.
He was a good friend to so many people, including myself, and it was an honour to work alongside him at Poppy Appeal time – although, as quoted in the Daily Echo, he served his fellow man all through the year looking after the sick and residents in need.
I am so pleased that our Mayor took the time out of her very busy schedule to attend Bob’s funeral and I know that his family and many friends were glad of her attendance.
If there was a person who should be thanked and their life celebrated it was Bob Wheatley. God bless.
Cllr Anne Rey, Setley Gardens, Bournemouth
