Once again Europe is facing the spectre (pun intended, Mr Bond) of a war, that is being fuelled by Russia’s megalomaniac leader’s dreams of restoring the former USSR (You can take the man out of the KGB but you can’t take the KGB out of the man).
On top of that, the world is facing the cataclysmic consequences of climate change accelerated by human activity and despoliation of natural resources.
It is essential, in such dangerous times that our elected representatives focus their attention on events that present a clear and present danger, rather than squabbling like a bunch of kids over what are, by comparison, trivialities.
The internecine fighting at Westminster that we have witnessed over the last few weeks sends the same message of encouragement to Putin that the political infighting sent to Hitler in 1939.
And we all know what that led to.
