I HAVE to agree with Vikki Slade’s comments in Thursday’s Daily Echo regarding the removal of deck chairs from seafront beaches this year.

The council have spent £90,000 on mayoral cars, and large sums on barbecues, while £200,000 is being let go from deckchairs that people actually want, and consultation with the local police.

The council have destroyed the traditional summer holiday for thousands of holiday makers this year, with this action.

I agree with Vikki Slade, when she says this is a missed opportunity. This year is staycation year, when the local economy would have benefitted the most from the holiday season and deckchair rentals.
