SORRY Robert Readman, but I have to disagree with what you said in your letter today.

You said that if you want to continue watching the BBC you should give up the caviar and suchlike.

Well, that’s true in a way, but the absolute truth is that you will have to give up the champagne lifestyle if you want to watch ANY television.

Even if, like me, you never watch the BBC at all, you still have to pay them the licence fee.

So while it is unfair that the over 75s soon won’t get their free licence, the real unfairness is that those of us who never use the product still have to pay annually for it.
