HEATHER Snow (Letters, Feb 10) stated 80 per cent of Christchurch residents voted against the legislation to create the new authority.
This is not correct as less than 50 per cent of the electorate bothered to turn out on the day for the referendum which cost £70,000.
Despite having no majority, but with the support of their MP, they decided to appeal.
They were listened to at the inquiry but the appeal was dismissed with costs in excess of £100,000.
I have also read reports stating the Christchurch council has refused two planning applications in their area.
The council is not a planning authority but can make comments to the BCP planning authority to be considered when an application is being determined.
