WHENEVER vaccinations for Covid 19 are mentioned, there is a debate about who should get it first.
People put forward arguments for key workers such as teachers and policemen and that because the elderly don’t work, there would be economic benefits in giving it to workers first.
However this overlooks the needs of those in the NHS trying to cope with an overwhelming demand.
The purpose of the vaccination programme is to target those most likely to be hospitalised because they get seriously ill with Covid-19.
This is turn will reduce the pressure on hospitals.
So lets give a thought to those NHS workers who are burnt out, suffering severe anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder or problem drinking.
We owe it to them to reduce the pressure on our hospitals and their staff before it is too late.
