MANY objectors are concerned that BCP Council’s road closure plans – under the government backed Active Travel Scheme – will only move the traffic on to cause congestion on surrounding roads.
The solution then surely is to reduce the number of vehicles on all the roads, while encouraging more of us to walk, cycle or use public transport.
That, after all, is the purpose of the scheme, helping to prevent eventual gridlock, reduce daily accidents and pollution, whilst also creating a healthier environment for everyone in the town.
All council administrations, of whatever political party, have been asked to address these issues. Any future BCP Conservative Party administration would have to do likewise.
