THE letter from Jeff Williams published on Saturday, August 8, was interesting.

He is correct in his observations of how the police are responding to reported crimes. However, this may not be a matter of funding but a better and more proactive use of the funds they have.

In his letter he tells us that a bevy of police cars, armed police and a helicopter were sent to an incident in Parkstone. However “petty crimes” attract no police presence. We should not be copying America.
