IT is heartening to see so many people making use of the conurbation’s ‘Beryl’ bikes, of which there are now more than 1,000 available for hire with several hundred pick up and parking stations.
However I am surprised that the bikes are not equipped with bells or any other type of warning device.
What makes this omission even more difficult to understand is that while it is a legal requirement for bikes to be equipped with bells while in the cycle shop, once sold and on the road, bikes are not legally required to have bells!
That makes a lot of sense doesn’t it?
