I HAVE just returned from a great break in Dublin.
It was an eye-opener. Instead of wasting millions on crazy, unused and very dangerous schemes like Richmond Hill with its backless seats at £1,000 each, shared spaces at Boscombe with “spheres” at £17k and Horseshoe Common with ‘faulty bricks’, and unused and unnecessary cycle lanes causing more congestion, why is there no council vision for a tram system? Superb. Easy, user-friendly - surely someone on the council has some vision?
We also used Southampton Airport - WOW! From plane to car, with luggage, in 15 minutes instead of the usual 30 minutes in a ‘cold shed’ at Bournemouth.
