AN ESCALATING problem in Bournemouth is the number of cyclists who have no consideration for pedestrians and chain their bicycles to lamp posts and barrier railings, sometimes two or three together.

No thought is given to the pedestrian who has to navigate the path around them and who even has to walk in the road to do so. What is even more disturbing is that the council provides special parking facilities to accommodate bicycles and they are not utilised.

Surely something can be done to address this growing problem not only because they are an obstruction but also because of the damage they cause to the paint on lamp posts, railings and the like.
