MAY I through the Echo send my very good wishes to Cllr Ron Whittaker as he bows out of public duty.

Ron has been a stalwart independent local councillor, giving up many, many hours of his life to work on behalf of local residents.

He has been tenacious in tackling many issues of local importance and has always maintained an open dialogue with residents keeping them informed of any issues.

He may not have won the case in every instance, but has always tackled each situation with indefatigable energy.

At a time when we are consumed with the national election, petty squabbling, point scoring and back-biting politics, it is good to remember politicians on a truly local level, working for those who elect them.

Thanks Ron, and I am sure I am not alone in wishing you good health and much happiness, and to thank you for being such a dedicated ward councillor.
