THERE has been much debate lately over the roles of ward councillors and if they actually do what is expected of them when elected.
In my particular area there has been a huge decline in the general appearance due to increased litter and damage to perimeter walls.
The litter problem hasn’t been helped by the removal of the one and only litter bin in the small local park but the most frustrating element of this issue is that I know from previous experience that it would take one phone call and that park would be litter free within 48 hours.
But is that not what the ward councillors should be monitoring, their ward, for the benefit of their voting public?
I suspect from living here for 20-plus years it has been shown that their priorities are perhaps in the wrong order.
