POOLE'S Jazz McCrea claimed another five senior gold medals and two more silvers to complete the Dorset Championships as the county’s top female swimmer.

The 15-year-old emerged from five days of racing across three weekends with a total of nine senior gold and five silver medals plus two competition best times (CBTs).

And she finished no lower than second in any of the 14 events she entered.

Her wins during the final weekend came in the 200m freestyle, 50m and 200m butterfly and 100m and 400m individual medley (IM).

She also lopped six seconds off Beth Aitchison’s 16yrs CBT with a time of 4:54.67 in a 400m IM in which Swim Bournemouth’s Izzy Hepburn won the junior gold.

McCrea met her match in the three breaststroke events, which saw 14-year-old Kayla van der Merwe complete a clean sweep of all six senior and junior titles.

The 5ft 10in Bournemouth Collegiate School (BCS) swimmer’s 100m heat time of 1min 11.28sec was just 0.12sec outside Aitchison’s junior CBT from 2014.
