Ronnie O’Sullivan will meet Mark Selby in the semi-finals of the Northern Ireland Open in Belfast after beating David Gilbert 5-2.

O’Sullivan wasted little time racing into a 3-0 lead with breaks of 51, 83 and 102 before Gilbert responded with a break of 113 in the fourth.

But O’Sullivan wrapped the match up with a break of 85 in the seventh to reach the last four.

Selby trailed 1-0 and 2-1 before winning four of the next five frames to end the challenge of Thailand’s Thepchaiya Un-Nooh 5-3.

Later, Eden Sharav fought back from 4-1 down to beat 2002 world champion Peter Ebdon 5-4, setting up a semi-final showdown with Judd Trump.

Trump survived a scare from Ryan Day, who led 3-2, before sealing his 5-3 win with a brilliant break of 120.
