England prop Kyle Sinckler will make his first start of the season when Harlequins take on Bristol at Ashton Gate on Saturday.

The 25-year-old was named in Eddie Jones’ England training squad this week, and will chase full match-sharpness now as the build-up to the November Tests intensifies.

Quins must do without Mike Brown for a third week in succession, with the England full-back still battling a wrist issue.

“We are pleased to welcome Kyle back to the squad and know he will make a huge contribution against Bristol,” said Quins’ head of rugby Paul Gustard.

“I really want to see our starting XV bring that energy to Ashton Gate from the kick-off this week.

“I have a lot of admiration for Pat Lam and the way his Bristol team are going about their business this season. We look forward to tackling the challenge they will offer in front of their home crowd with the skill and spirit that our supporters can be proud of.”

Centre Alapati Leiua returns for Bristol after a back problem, with boss Pat Lam itching to hit back to winning ways after defeat at Gloucester.

“We’re hugely excited to return to Ashton Gate; it seems like a while since we played Bath on an amazing night with huge support, so everyone is looking forward to getting back home and trying to get the points versus Harlequins,” said Lam.

“While the effort and character was awesome at Kingsholm, what has impressed me most about this week is the determination by the players to take a lot of learnings around our skills and decision making, which we know will have to be spot on. I’m confident we will see improvements in that area.”

South Africa full-back Willie le Roux will make his first start of the campaign when Wasps face Sale at the AJ Bell Stadium in Salford.

Le Roux is back in Wasps colours after helping the Springboks beat back-to-back world champions the All Blacks in the Rugby Championship.

Elliot Daly moves to centre and captains the side, with regular skipper and England lock Joe Launchbury missing with a minor knee complaint.

“We have been a bit patchy so far,” said Wasps rugby director Dai Young.

“Sale are very strong defensively, you’re going to work around them rather than go through them.”

Ben Curry starts in the back-row for Sale, with Josh Beaumont dropping to the bench.

“Wasps are one of the super teams of the Gallagher Premiership, with star players all through the squad and playing really well again this season,” said Sale boss Steve Diamond.

“It was probably our best performance of the season (in defeat last weekend at Exeter), but we were disappointed that we didn’t manage to come away with anything.

“I’m confident that if we continue improving in the vein we’ve displayed we’ll be a highly-competitive side over the season.”

Dave Attwood slots in at lock for Bath who will host a Northampton squad in which Australian Andrew Kellaway could make his debut off the bench.
