Hasnan Ali secured a unanimous victory on Friday at Dagenham Roundhouse in the London Youth Under-19 Finals.

Ali, East London Boxing Academy’s reigning Superheavyweight England and Wales champion, came up against Ethan John Frost from Newham ABC in the clash of the East End heavyweights.

Ali was the favourite going in and won every minute of every round to secure his place in the national round-robin tournament of quarter-finals, semi-finals and national finals on February 14, 15 and 16 in Coventry.

East London Boxing Academy has three more youth boxers competing in London rounds this Friday and Saturday, looking to join Ali in the national stages.

Uzair Maqbool, the reigning two-division Southern Area belt holder, and Hamza Hajee, who holds the highest number of wins for the club, will both be competing this weekend.

This is a big year for the youth category, with the Tri-Nations happening as well as the Under-19 European and World Championships.

Elsewhere, two Gator ABC boxers won their quarter-finals at the National Schoolboys tournament in Feltham recently.

George Francis won his contest against Kristian Valchev of Cheshunt, while Charlie Ellis out-pointed Barnstable’s Leland Scott.

Both will be in action this weekend in the semi-finals.
