DORSET'S Georgia Hall yesterday carded an opening 68 as she finally completed her first round at the fifth Major of the year – the Evian Championship.

The former Canford Kid, in a rich vein of form, shot an impressive three under par after the £2.8million tournament in south-east France was reduced to 54 holes.

Teeing off at the 10th at Evian Resort Golf Club, Hall's bogey on 14 was sandwiched by gains at 13 and 15.

She then reeled off birdies at the fourth, fifth and seventh before a dropped shot at the eighth set her back.

The 21-year-old managed just three holes on Thursday before poor weather intervened. Play was suspended in the morning as 45mph winds and heavy rain battered Evian-les-Bains.

Several attempts were made to resume but at 2.30pm local time, tournament organisers made the decision to scrap all scores from round one and start afresh the following day.

Hall had been sitting on level par at the time.

With the prestigious event now being contested over 54 holes, the cut will take place after today's second round.
