DOUBLES from Sam Carter and Jordan Basing helped Hamworthy United reserves register a 6-1 victory over Dorset Premier League rivals Blandford United.

Carter started the ball rolling when he netted from close range after 40 minutes before Basing doubled Hammers' lead on the stroke of half-time with Nick Patrick having a hand in both goals.

Patrick's volleyed effort made it 3-0 early in the second half before he again provided the assist for Basing to add his second and Hammers' fourth in the 53rd minute.

Josh Rose's finely-taken goal further increased the visitors' lead before Carter's stunning 25-yarder made it 6-0 with 15 minutes remaining.

Hammers' young goalkeeper Shane Cooper must have been hoping for a clean sheet after making a couple of good saves, including diving bravely at the feet of Mark Ford in the early stages.

But he was finally beaten by a Rob Manson effort in the second minute of added time as the Royals bagged a late consolation.

Asa Phillips led the way with a hat-trick as Merley Cobham Sports booked their place in the semi-final of the Dorset Senior Trophy with a comprehensive 7-1 win over Dorset League Portland United reserves. Lee Wilkins, Ben Satterley, Josh Pickering and Matt Groves were also on target.
