CHERRIES have opted to extend the contracts of talented young duo Christian Saydee and Nathan Moriah-Welsh.

The pair have enjoyed successful loan spells in the EFL this season.

Guyana international Moriah-Welsh, 21, made 46 appearances for League Two Newport County, scoring three goals.

A step higher in the pyramid, 21-year-old striker Saydee netted seven times in 38 outings for Shrewsbury Town.

Newport finished 15th in the fourth tier, while the Shrews placed 12th in League One.

Saydee, who has also had loan spells out at Weymouth and Burton Albion, has made six senior appearances for Cherries, scoring once.

Moriah-Welsh has featured for Cherries' first team on two occasions.

The club opted to exercise the option in both players' contracts to extend their deals, the news coming as part of Cherries' official retained list being announced.

All other news had already previously been announced, with Jordan Zemura, Jefferson Lerma, Jack Stacey and Junior Stanislas all leaving the club upon their expiry of their contracts.

Jack Stephens and Matias Vina return to their parent clubs Southampton and Roma after loan spells, although the club are keen to sign the pair on permanent deals.

Also released are development squad players Matt Burgess, Chris Francis, Brooklyn Genesini, Josh Popoola and Tarik Gidaree. Scholars Marcus Daws and Ollie Camis have too been let go.
