IT IS set to be another busy deadline day at Cherries.

It would seem hard to imagine much topping last year’s chaotic final day of January, in which five players arrived and two departed.

But with less than 24 hours to go until tonight’s 11pm deadline, there is still plenty to be tied up at Cherries, to build a squad ready for the battle to avoid relegation from the Premier League.

Four players have already come through the door this month in Lorient winger Dango Ouattara, veteran goalkeeper Darren Randolph, Bristol City forward Antoine Semenyo and, last night, Roma left-back Matias Vina on loan.

And Cherries are not done there, with the distinct possibility of a couple more new faces arriving today.

Cherries are close to wrapping up a deal for Sassuolo midfielder Hamed Traore. A deal was agreed between the two clubs yesterday.

A fee of £21million has been mooted for the 22-year-old Ivory Coast international.

Two more wide players have been linked with the club in recent days.

The Nicolo Zaniolo saga has not yet reached a conclusion. The Italy international has told Roma he no longer wants to play for the club, as he looks to force a move away. But he has also reportedly turned down the chance to join Cherries.

Fenerbahce wing-back Bright Osayi-Samuel, formerly of QPR and Blackpool, is another name who had been linked, but the Echo understands he is not someone the club is currently pursuing.

Another name to keep an eye on is teenager Hugo Larsson. The Malmo midfielder, who has played once for Sweden, has been linked with a move to Cherries, with the possibility of then being loaned out to Lorient.

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Oliver Skipp is another name to have been rumoured as a potential player of interest to Cherries in recent days, as has Dynamo Kiev defender Illya Zabarnyi.

Bill Foley said at the start of the month Cherries would look to add “four to five” players this month and he has also made it clear that he will provide funds to ensure the club are not relegated.

However, additions would lead to an extra problem for Cherries.

As it stands, following the arrival of Vina, Cherries’ squad is now overstocked at 26 players aged 21 or above.

Any further signings would mean some players would not be able to be registered for the second half of the Premier League campaign, with only 25 players permitted.

It is understood the league discourages clubs from having too many extra players in their squad who are unable to feature, meaning Cherries may well have to sanction some deadline day departures.

Siriki Dembele is one player who has been linked with a move away. French club Auxerre have been linked.

Aside from him, there have been no strong links to players leaving the club but eyes could be on the future of a player such as Jack Stacey, especially as Ryan Fredericks nears a return to fitness. Stacey’s contract is understood to expire at the end of the season and Cherries have both Adam Smith and Fredericks as viable right-back options.

Stacey almost left the club over the summer, with Coventry City among the clubs understood to have been interested.

The Daily Echo understands there have been no approaches or bids for any of Cherries’ first-team players this month and the club are not looking to sell their star assets.

One player who looks set for another move is Gavin Kilkenny, the Irishman close to swapping his loan move at Stoke City for one with Charlton Athletic.

Other youngsters may well also move out on loan before the transfer window slams shut.
