CHERRIES have completed the signing of Matias Vina, on loan until the end of the season.

Left-back Vina, 25, arrives from Roma, for a reported initial €500,000 loan fee. The deal is also said to include a clause in which Cherries could, but are not obligated to, make the loan a permanent transfer in the summer, for a reported fee of around €15million.

The Uruguay international has made seven appearances under Jose Mourinho this term, but has not featured in Serie A since October.

Vina began his career in Uruguay at Nacional, before moving to Brazil with Palmeiras is 2020. There he won the treble of the Campeonato Paulista, Copa Libertadores and Copa do Brasil.

Europe came calling 18 months later, Vina switching to Roma in the summer of 2021.

He has played 44 times for the Italian club and helped them win the Europa Conference League last season.

Vina also enjoyed success on the international stage, winning the under-20 South American Championship with Uruguay in 2017. He competed at the World Cup with his nation last year and has 28 senior caps.

Following the summer departure of Leif Davis, Jordan Zemura was Cherries’ only recognised left-back in the squad, with Lloyd Kelly and Adam Smith filling in at points this season.

Vina becomes Cherries' fourth signing of the transfer window, following Dango Ouattara, Darren Randolph and Antoine Semenyo.

The club are also close to adding Hamed Traore from Italian side Sassuolo.
