CHERRIES striker Sam Surridge has been called into the England under-21 squad for fixtures against Slovenia and Austria.

The talented frontman, who is currently on loan at Swansea, has been called into the setup alongside Ben Wilmot to replace injured trio Morgan Gibbs-White, Reiss Nelson and Mason Greenwood.

Surridge has scored four goals in 10 appearances for Swansea this season, his latest coming against Watford in the Carabao Cup last month.

The Cherries academy graduate made his Premier League debut for Eddie Howe’s men in February, coming off the bench in a 5-1 defeat at Arsenal.

He was introduced for his second appearance late on during the final day of the 2018-19 campaign at Crystal Palace.

The former Parley First, Ferndown Middle and Ferndown Upper pupil enjoyed a fruitful loan spell away at League One Oldham Athletic during the first half of last season, scoring 12 goals in 20 matches.

He has also had loan spells at the Yeovil, Poole Town and Weymouth.

Cherries pair Aaron Ramsdale and Lloyd Kelly have also been included in Aidy Boothroyd’s Young Lions group.
