MANAGER Eddie Howe said Ryan Fraser had not eaten for “a couple of days” after picking up the illness which had kept him out against West Ham.

The Cherries winger, who is back in contention for Sunday’s trip to Arsenal (2pm), was forced to miss the 2-2 draw with the Hammers after suffering from a high temperature and sickness.

Asked for an update on the 25-year-old, Howe told the Daily Echo: “He didn’t look well when I first saw him, I’ve got to be honest.

“It was certainly an illness that knocked him a little bit I think.

“I don’t think he ate for a couple of days, which for an athlete is not good, but hopefully he will be fit and firing for the game.

“There was a high temperature there and a bit of sickness.

“But he seems to have got stronger through the week.”

Fraser has featured six times in the top flight this season, scoring one goal and registering one assist.

He was this week named in a 25-man Scotland squad for their upcoming Euro 2020 qualifying matches against Russia and San Marino.
