LEWIS Cook admits an England recall is “in my mind”, but insists “I’ve just got to focus on my club”.

The 22-year-old made his long-awaited return to the Cherries side earlier this month in victory over Everton and came off the bench to help his team to defeat Southampton at St Mary’s Stadium on Friday night.

England boss Gareth Southgate was in the crowd to watch the south coast clash but Cook, who has one senior cap for the Three Lions, is keen to produce for Cherries before turning his attention back to his country.

Asked if he had spoken to Southgate since his return to fitness, Cook told the Daily Echo: “No. I’m just focusing on myself now trying to get a few games. I’m feeling better and better each game. I can't put too much pressure on myself after being out for such a long time.

“I spent a long time in the (England) youth teams and got that time when I played for the first team. I got that taste then and really enjoyed it. Obviously that’s in my mind, but I can’t be focused on that at the moment, I’ve just got to focus on my club and just enjoy my football.”
