DRIVEN Steve Cook is fired up for Cherries’ derby showdown at Southampton and insisted: “We want to win for the fans.”
The influential centre-half has featured seven times against Saints in his career, winning on two separate occasions.
He played 90 minutes for Brighton in a 3-0 Championship victory against the Hampshire side in January 2012.
And Cook scored for Cherries in a 2-0 top-flight win over Saints at Vitality Stadium in March 2016.
But with Eddie Howe’s men never having gone to St Mary’s and triumphed, Cook is eager to give the travelling supporters a night to remember.
Speaking ahead of tomorrow’s crunch contest (8pm), the defender said: “We really owe them (Saints) and we are really looking forward to it.
“We want to win for the fans because they haven’t had those bragging rights away from home. Under the lights I’m sure it will be a great atmosphere and we are targeting back-to-back wins.
“The will to win is very high and I can’t wait for it.”
He added: “Even just after winning (against Everton) on Sunday our minds quickly changed to Friday. It’s a great opportunity for us to go there and get a win.
“They have started the season well as well. I am sure it will be a great game.”
